Gone by - an old scetch and paintings by Jaap Eerland

Emerged from our cellar in September 2024:

a small draft by Jaap Eerland of a girl with a big hat.

It looked familiar,
so I searched in our archives and found old and damaged slices of
paintings by Jaap Eerland, dating from the 1970's

Jaap remembers a title:

Zeg maar dag met het handje

wie wat bewaart, die heeft wat - whoever saves some, has some

September 2024, more old sketches by Jaap Eerland found

Cleaning up our cellar on September 18, 2024, I found a small box with, to me, unknown content. I took it upstairs and had a look. About a hundred, old, even 19th Century, pictures of WW I soldiers, charming ladies in bathing suits and a lot of strangers and strange images, some leaflets for exhibitions of Jaap Eerland and several sketches he made in 1987, the year we met.

In that year he worked a few months in Winterswijk escaping from his former figural work, trying to get into abstract art. He thought making triangles was the best first move. Earlier in this blog I already have publised some triangles I found before, now these. Today Jaap commented on these sketches: "Not bad"
